Tight or not? High-speed check for suction grippers
Motivation
Suction grippers are widely used in industrial automation to enable flexible and reliable handling of different objects. The occurrence of leaks and the resulting detachment behavior of the suction pad are critical factors that significantly influence process reliability. However, the detailed analysis of these processes has so far only been investigated to a limited extent, as the dynamic processes in the release moment take place in the submillisecond range.
By using a high-speed camera with a frame rate of up to 1600 fps, this detachment behavior is to be recorded and analyzed from a suitable observation point.
Task
- Familiarization with the functionality of the existing high-speed camera and lighting components
- Recording, evaluation and documentation of the high-speed image data for the analysis of gripper behaviour during contact loss and leakage initiation
- Extension through different gripper and, if necessary, surface parameters
The scope of the work can be agreed individually.
The call for proposals is aimed at students of all technical and scientific disciplines.
