At IFAS, I investigate the flow in turbomachinery components using scale-resolving numerical methods. The focus lies on the highly accurate prediction of flow phenomena with the aim of utilizing the findings to improve current and future component designs. My research is closely linked to the EU Horizon project Sci-Fi-Turbo – Scale-resolving Simulations for Innovations in Turbomachinery Design, in which I am developing turbomachinery-specific post-processing routines for scale-resolving simulations for an existing CFD solver environment. I am also working on creating user-friendly processes for the robust application of such calculations. My current research focuses on the simplified mapping of sidewall boundary layer influences and entropy-based loss evaluation in transonic compressors.
