My work at IFAS focuses on the aeroacoustic design and numerical analysis of propellers for urban and regional aviation. As part of the VALERIE research project, I analyze the influence of three-dimensional design measures on ducted propellers on noise generation. A particular focus is on rotor-stator interaction and gap vortices, as well as their acoustic effects. Methodologically, based on a reference design, specific 3D blade designs are applied and their influence on aerodynamics and acoustics is investigated using numerical simulations. High-resolution RANS and uRANS calculations as well as complementary harmonic balance simulations are used for this purpose. The aim of my work is to provide high-quality validation data for the reduced-order models developed in the project for the rapid estimation of noise emissions in preliminary design.
