As head of the research group “Modeling and System Analysis of Aero Engines,” I conduct research on new aircraft engines, sustainable aviation, and predictive maintenance. To this end, we use model-based and data-driven approaches to achieve a high level of detail on the one hand and a holistic view on the other. We validate our models on IFAS engines and in close collaboration with the outstanding faculty at IFAS as well as with partners from industry and science.
At the same time, I am a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, where I am establishing and expanding a strategic partnership. Together with Prof. Steven Rogak, Prof. Patrick Kirchen (https://cerc.ubc.ca/), and Prof. Jens Friedrichs, we combine research and teaching with a focus on sustainable aviation, alternative aviation fuels, and emission reduction for the real world.
