I am part of the “Modeling and System Analysis of Aero Engines” working group and am involved in predicting pollutant emissions from aircraft engines. My focus here is on developing a combustion chamber model that can predict non-CO2 emissions in particular, such as NOx and soot, with sufficient reliability and moderate computational effort. This model will be integrated into the performance calculation, enabling emission estimates for various gas turbine-based propulsion systems under variable operating conditions.
In addition to estimating emission products, I am responsible for the aerodynamic design and analysis of open-rotor propellers in my current main project, ATLAS. Here, I use blade element, lifting line, and CFD methods to develop optimal geometries and analyze their performance.
