Counselling of the Protestant Student Community

A service offered by the ESG – Protestant Student Community

There are times when you just need someone to listen. Often, all it takes is
someone who’s simply there to listen. Then your thoughts start to fall into place,
your feelings become clearer, and perhaps the first step toward
solving the problem begins to emerge. I take the time to listen and talk
and am bound by confidentiality. For international students
from developing and emerging countries who find themselves in financial distress,
I offer counseling. Under certain conditions,
I can provide temporary financial assistance.

Mentoring for KTW students

A program offered by Faculty 6 – Faculty of Humanities and Education

Starting in the 2024/25 winter semester, the Faculty of Humanities and Education will offer a peer mentoring program in which upperclassmen (= peers) serve as mentors for first-year students. The goal of the program is to ease the transition into university life. It is particularly well-suited for discussing topics such as creating a course schedule, choosing a major, practical experiences, general and specific questions about daily student life, or study abroad opportunities with students in higher semesters, allowing first-year students to benefit from their wealth of experience. In addition, regular networking meetings complement the one-semester program.

Mentoring Mentor.ING

For students in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (and other engineering programs)

The program offers you the opportunity to, for example, advance your career plans, build networks, and prepare for the typical challenges of starting your career through workshops on topics such as assessment training or salary negotiation. Even if you still have some time before graduation and are just starting to think about choosing a specialization, the Mentor.ING Program is a great fit: You set the topics, as the focus is on exchanging ideas with a mentor from industry or research. You can benefit from our mentors’ extensive experience and spend an entire semester discussing your topics together. Spaces are limited; the program is open to bachelor’s (starting in the 4th semester) and master’s students in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The program takes place only during the winter semester. Applications are due by August 31.

Note for students from other faculties: If spaces remain available, interested students from other engineering programs at TU Braunschweig may be considered.

Mentoring of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Physics

A Program Offered by Faculty 5 – Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Physics

For several years now, the faculty has offered a consistently popular and now mandatory mentoring program designed to support students, particularly during their first semester. The program is open to all students enrolled in the faculty’s degree programs.

As your mentor, a professor from the faculty will be at your side, especially during the first few months of your studies, which can be a bit challenging. He or she will listen to your problems and questions and serve as your direct point of contact outside of regular classes. Questions about your studies in particular can usually be resolved quickly thanks to this close connection.
