My work involves the design and analysis of UHBR aircraft engines with the aim of investigating the influence of different engine configurations and operating conditions on efficiency and environmental impact. One focus is on reducing non-CO2 effects, in particular contrails, through adapted operating and flight profiles.
Numerical engine models and simulations are used for this purpose, on the basis of which correlations in the design space can be analyzed. This allows engine concepts to be compared with each other and simplified models to be developed in order to evaluate effects more quickly and support informed decisions.
