The current, central information from TU Braunschweig is brought together at magazin.tu-braunschweig.de. You will find a wide range of magazine articles as well as official press releases, upcoming events and brief notes. Four articles each from the magazine and press releases as well as current events also appear on the TU Braunschweig homepage.

Since February 2020, "The Week" has been informing all TU Braunschweig employees every Friday at 10 a.m. about current topics from inside the university and giving a preview of upcoming events. For this purpose, in the editorial office we collect everything that caught our eye or was brought to our attention until 11 a.m. on Thursdays. Together, we then select the "Darling of the Week" and deliver digital bouquets of flowers with which employees across the university convey their thanks and appreciation.

About a year after the launch of "The Week", a first evaluation was carried out. You can find the results of this evaluation here.

Translation aids and guidelines (German - English)

What is ... in English? What do we use at TU Braunschweig for ...? To promote a consistent use of proper names and technical terms in the university context, please use our Glossary German-English | English-German for your translations. It contains terms from the area of higher education in general as well as terms that are specific to our University. Our aim is to make texts published by TU Braunschweig as easy to understand as possible by using consistent terminology.

This glossary is by no means exhaustive. It is updated on a regular basis. Are you missing a translation or do you have a suggestion? Send an email to the Translation Service of TU Braunschweig.

The proper name of TU Braunschweig is not translated into English. The name "Technische Universität Braunschweig" or "TU Braunschweig" is used. This decision is based on a TU9 resolution. The guidelines for dealing with the German proper names of TU9 universities were developed together with Imperial College in London: The British marketing experts there are of the opinion that English translations of German proper names and especially city names contribute more to confusion than to identification: in no case do they increase the recognition value of the German university. Accordingly, all TU9 universities uniformly use their German names in foreign language presentations.

If in special cases the name of TU Braunschweig has to be translated, the translation "University of Braunschweig - Institute of Technology" or "Braunschweig Institute of Technology" can be used. The version "University of Braunschweig - Institute of Technology" was suggested by Imperial College for all TU9 universities. The doubling of "University" - "Institute" comes about because there is no translation in English for Technische Universität in the sense of a German full university. Under no circumstances should TU Braunschweig be translated as "Technical University of Braunschweig": The term "Technical University", at least in the British English-speaking world, refers to a technical college for applied technology rather than a university. In line with the above, the city name Braunschweig is also not translated.

According to the publication guidelines of TU Braunschweig - passed by the Senate in February 2019 - the correct English translation for the unit “Fakultät” is faculty. A department within a faculty is translated as department, followed by institute and division. A division is thus a department within an institute.

Translations of the names of institutes and units can be found (after logging in) on the TUorga website.

Just like when writing a letter, e-mails establish the first contact and thus convey a piece of the TU Braunschweig's image. Here, too, it is important to have a uniform and functional email signature (combined German | English), which also strengthens the international orientation of TU Braunschweig,

With over 250,000 inhabitants, Braunschweig is the largest city between Hannover and Berlin and the centre of the region. This flyer presents many areas of daily life in Braunschweig. In addition to topics such as housing or shopping, the leisure activities on offer are also briefly described.

The flyer is especially useful for prospective students, for example, to take along to trade fairs.

The picture database (after logging in with your TU user ID) of the Communication and Press Service offers all employees of TU Braunschweig a constantly growing pool of corporate image photos as well as photos on the topics of research and studies to use for research and to download. You can find instructions on how to use the picture database here.

Permission for filming and photography for reporting on Technische Universität Braunschweig and its facilities is granted by the Communication and Press Service. You can find the form to apply for permission here. If possible, send us your request no later than one week before the planned shooting date.

What do I have to consider if I want to create or publish photos or graphics? Detailed information on the topic of image rights and templates of a declaration of consent for the production, use and publication of photos, video and sound recordings as well as an agreement on the use and application of photos, video and sound recordings can be found in the information for researchers and communication officers.

Conference materials and merchandising products of Technische Universität Braunschweig for trade fairs, conferences, stays abroad and guests can be purchased from the Central Office for Continuing Education in the Haus der Wissenschaft. TU Braunschweig Institutes can obtain the products at reduced prices via an internal service charge.

New articles in the TU Braunschweig corporate design are approved by the Communication and Press Service and partly - depending on the occasion - created by the Communication and Press Service.
