The Presidency

The Technische Universität Braunschweig is led by a presidency. According to Section 37 (1) of the Lower Saxony University Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz - NHG), it is in charge of the development and fulfilment of the university's tasks. The Presidency specifically decides on the conclusion of a target agreement, the economic plan, the task- and performance-oriented planning. According to Section 37 (1) of the NHG, it is responsible for the development and fulfilment of the university's tasks. The Presidency decides in particular on

  • the conclusion of a target agreement,
  • the economic plan,
  • the task- and performance-oriented funding in the university,
  • the establishment, alteration and dissolution of departments and other organisational units as well as the division of a department on the recommendation of the respective Dean' s Office,
  • the introduction, substantial modification and closure of study programmes as well as the approval of examination regulations.

The President

The President represents the university in public, chairs the Presidency and sets the guidelines for it. The President is nominated or appointed on a recommendation of the University Senate.

The Vice-Presidents

In addition to the President, the Presidency also includes a Vice President for Human Resources, Finance and Infrastructure. He is responsible for the business divisions: Human Resources, Law and Studies, Finance and Facility Management.

In addition, four part-time Vice Presidents' Offices have been established, whose two-year terms of office are governed by the basic rules of the Technical University of Braunschweig. The Vice-Presidents are responsible for the following departments:
