Representative for the needs of students with disabilities and/or chronic diseases

The representative for the needs of students with disabilities and/or chronic diseases serves as a contact point at TU Braunschweig for students and prospective students with long-term or permanent impairments as e.g.

  • chronic-somatic or psychological diseases,
  • hearing, visual, speech impairments,
  • impairments of movement,
  • developmental disorders of scholastic skills or
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

The representative provides advice and support for all impairment-related concerns related to the studies.

  • questions during the preparation for studies
  • impairment-relevant study conditions
  • adjustment options for the course of studies, workload, conditions in courses and examinations
  • applying for "disadvantage compensations" (Nachteilsausgleiche)
  • Exit and re-entry due to periods of illness during studies
  • behavior in difficult situations (e.g. with teachers or fellow students)
  • accessibility, usability and locatability of buildings and rooms
  • referral to contact people
  • information on and referral to "Diversity-Mentoring"

The representative also provides information and advice on the subject of studying with disabilities to internal or external facilities.
