Hormonal Regulation of Plant Development (Bio-BB 26)

Course content

Practical course: Students will learn advanced methods in plant biochemistry and plant molecular biology:

  • Extraction of total RNA and mRNA; detection of transcripts (competitive RT-PCR, Real Time PCR, in situ hybridization)
  • Heterologous gene expression and functional detection of proteins (enzymes and receptors), (protein)-HPLC
  • use of bioinformatic tools for plant biochemistry and plant molecular biology
  • search and usage of "public domain" databases relevant for plant biochemistry and plant molecular biology (analysis and interpretation of sequence data, development of cloning strategies, primer design, etc.)
  • Quantitative Real Time PCR
