The topic of the lecture "Fuel Cell Systems" first deals with the different types of fuel cells, PEM, AEM, SOFC, etc. from the point of view of their physical-chemical properties, as well as the manufacturing processes also related to the overall system. Subsequently, the various layers and components of the fuel cell systems are dealt with in detail, especially with regard to the degradation of catalysts, GDLs and MEAs. Hydrogen in itself is not a primary energy carrier - wherever it is consumed, it must first be produced, which is why great attention is paid here to CO2-neutral production, especially through so-called high-temperature cells. The circular economy of the various components is explained in more detail and the special features of the respective layers and components are addressed.
