Experimental Design (MEX)

Course content

Aims

Experimental design with a freely selectable focus. Design oriented towards architectural tangibility with an experimental character using analogue and digital processes and techniques that generate space and form.

Content

Essential aspects are:

  • the visualisation, application or transformation of theories, phenomena or developments relevant to architecture, for example changing forms of living together, new materials and processing techniques, the adaptation of other forms of performance such as bionics or robotics, theses on architecture and urban development
  • the methodical and systematic integration of form and spatial studies
  • the testing of different and alternative representation techniques and design tools
  • the use of the interdependencies of representation and design processes to influence architectural form
  • in the case of design processing with digital techniques, e.g. the use of generative, parametric design methods and digital processes such as sampling, morphing, scripting, etc.
  • the use of interdependent design processes to influence the architectural form
