Environmental and Sustainability Management in Industrial Application

Course content

After completing the module " Environmental and Sustainability Management in Industrial Application" students are able to systematically analyze companies with regard to environmental and sustainability risks and to derive suitable sustainability strategies. To this end, students learn to apply suitable methods to identify the relevant environmental and sustainability aspects within the life cycle of a product and to derive requirements for companies. Upon this, students are able to identify suitable measures to implement these requirements within a corporate organization. As a basis for the development of environmental and sustainability strategies, students acquire specialist knowledge on various topics of environmental and sustainability management, which are applied in a case study as part of the team project. During this practical application, students also acquire qualifications in key competencies such as teamwork, communication and presentation. Students become more aware of the importance of environmental and sustainability management. They learn the relevant scientific terms and methods and are able to lead sound discussions on environmental and sustainability issues and to develop sustainability strategies in a heterogeneous team. In order to be able to understand these strategies in actual practice, a 3-4 day excursion is offered within the framework of the course during the excursion week. Within this period leading German companies will be visited to discuss their sustainability strategy and to identify weaknesses and obstacles.
