Biosensors and their applications

Course content

This course will give an overview of biosensor technology. Given the multi-disciplinary aspects of biosensor technology, several biosensing principles will be introduced, each by a national or international expert in the respective sensor technology. Invited lecturers will provide presentations in a synchronous or asynchronous form (live or recorded depending on the availability and time zone difference). Each lecture will focus on a different biosensing technology and will include a brief theoretical background of the sensing principles, the status of development and its areas of applications. Some example topics to be covered include:

  •     Optical biosensing
  •     Carbon nanotube-based biosensing
  •     Aptamer-based biosensing
  •     Electrochemical biosensing
  •     Enzyme-based biosensing

All lectures will be recorded and will be uploaded in a course repository. Ten invited lectures will be held each year.
