Analysis of Molecule Complexes (in vivo and in vitro) (Bio-BB 25)

Course content

After completing the module, students are able to:

  • deeply understand the methods of gene transfer and to apply them routinely.
  • genetically modify plant and fungal cells using direct and indirect DNA-transfer
  • independently analyse successful expression of foreign genes on RNA and protein level and describe it on the level of a changed phenotype.
  • independently carry out enzyme kinetic assays of reporters (in vivo and in vitro)
  • detect expression of foreign genes using light- and confocal laser scanning microscopy (cLSM)
  • differentiate between fluorescence proteins via cLSM, record and edit independently Z-stacks and time videos
  • independently generate, document and interpret experimental data.
  • discuss critically ways of generating knowledge in a social context.
  • understand and independently apply different research strategies.
  • plan, give and defend a scientific talk.
  • ask scientific-critical questions and discuss about them.
