Alumni and Students at Radio Okerwelle 2026

Stays abroad, alternative career paths, and the experiences that make college life special—alumni and students on Radio Okerwelle

Once again this year, the Relationship Management team, along with alumni and current recipients of the Germany Scholarship, was a guest on Radio Okerwelle. Together, we got a behind-the-scenes look at the radio station and recorded our own radio show.

The radio segment begins by introducing the offerings of TU Braunschweig’s central alumni network, which has been developed since 2024 as a central platform for former students, staff, and researchers. With more than 3,000 members to date, it offers numerous opportunities for networking, reminiscing, continuing education, and getting involved.

It also covers the Deutschlandstipendium, which supports dedicated and high-achieving students through funding from corporate sponsors, foundations, associations, and private individuals. In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients benefit above all from personal exchanges and the diverse network of contacts within the program.

The program comes to life especially through the guests’ personal stories. Alumni and students share their very different experiences at TU Braunschweig and beyond: from study abroad stints in Taiwan, Spain, Canada, or the U.S., to exciting encounters with people from all over the world, and the challenges that come with adapting to new environments. Others describe how their career paths have unfolded after graduation—sometimes quite differently than originally planned—ranging from mechanical engineering and innovation management to working as a coach and consultant.

Current students also provide insights into their daily lives: they discuss international research projects, student involvement, additional language courses, and their desire for continuous professional and personal growth. It becomes clear that studying at TU Braunschweig involves far more than just attending classes and, for many, serves as the starting point for an individual and diverse life journey.

Above all, the program highlights one thing: Behind the alumni network and the Germany Scholarship are many inspiring people and stories that shape and help define TU Braunschweig in a wide variety of ways.

Give it a listen! (The radio segment was recorded in German.)
