A Reunion On Campus

Connecting paths and shared memories - in July, seven former TU Braunschweig students came together to retrace their student days. Three began their studies in the winter semester of 1984 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, three in Computer Science, and one "mechanical engineer" took advantage of his first weeks of lectures back in 1983. What brought them together back then in the preliminary maths course and in the freshers' groups organised by the student councils has survived to this day: Scraps of conversation about formal proofs, heated debates in the canteen and, for three of them, the subsequent doctorate at the TU have forged a network that has endured beyond their time on campus.

During the campus tour to the "Hidden and Forbidden Places" of TU Braunschweig, old anecdotes were exchanged - from initial hurdles in engineering studies to joint visits to the canteen and time spent in the "Cafeteria an der Bib". Contact within the group has been more or less intense over the decades. And yet the interest in the lives of the others has remained and the impression arises that somehow everyone is still a bit "like they used to be".  The tour was crowned by the panoramic view from the roof of the Oker Tower, which showed the participants the campus buildings in a new light and provided a wonderful prelude to the social evening that followed.
