Institute of System Security

Welcome to the website of the Insitute of System Security at Technische Universität Braunschweig.

Our research revolves around the security of computer systems. We are developing novel methods for protecting computers from attacks, understanding malicious code and finding vulnerabilities in software. A special focus of our research is the combination of machine learning and computer security, which enables us to construct intelligent systems that adapt to changing threats.

Open Position!

We are looking to fill the position of a PhD Student (Doktorand*in) working on the intersection of computer security and artificial intelligence. The position is fully funded. More details are available here.

04/2019 — Hugo successfully defended his PhD thesis 'Defending against Targeted Attacks with Pattern Recognition'. Congratulations Dr. Gascon!

03/2019 — Woah! Our students Lukas Pirch and Jonas Möller won the German InformatiCup 2019, out of 30 teams. The task was to evade a machine-learning system. More details here

01/2019 — Congratulations to team 'Chaos Coders' for winning this year's Datalab (our practical course on machine learning in security).

11/2018 — Chris successfully defended his PhD thesis 'Efficient Machine Learning for Attack Detection'. Congratulations Dr. Wressnegger!

11/2018 — Our institute joins the consortium of the Berlin Big Data Center 2. Together with the other partners, we will explore methods for protecting the security and privacy of big data systems.

09/2018 — We are attending the 21st Symposium on Research in Attacks, Intrusions and Defenses (RAID) in Heraklion, Crete. Hugo is presenting our paper on detecting spear-phishing attacks in emails.

07/2018 — Our Bachelor project won the 3rd place at the TDSE student competition with a WiFi pentesting drone. Congratulations!
