The research platform is investigating how the trust of end consumers in an increasingly decentralized, automated energy system that is increasingly controlled by digital processes can be maintained and strengthened. To this end, a trust model is developed that combines technical and sociological perspectives and is to be used as a theoretical basis for the development of trustworthy community energy systems. This trust model will be continuously reflected upon and improved through practical testing and implementation in a real laboratory.
In our part of the project, the analysis and modeling of individual and social aspects in (socio-)technical (agent) systems, we focus on the following questions:
How can individual and social aspects of trust be represented in technical systems? Under which boundary conditions can trust arise and be stable?
Which design principles for human-machine interfaces can be derived and implemented?
Karoline Misch participated in the first annual conference of the TEN.efzn project, held in Hanover, where the six research platforms and three transfer projetcs presented their initial work and early progress. In addition to the substantial insights, the event primarily emphasized personal exchange, offering the opportunity to meet colleagues in person and to connect with researchers from various fields, beyond the boundaries of one’s own project.
The research associates of TEN.efzn, including Karoline Misch and Jona Bruns, met in Oldenburg for a joint working session to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration within the project.
Several intensive sessions focused on key topics such as developing a shared understanding of trust, identifying actor constellations, and discussing potential artefacts and transfer concepts. The open exchange across disciplines made it possible to identify and deepen common interfaces.
In addition to the productive discussions, there was also time for informal exchange: over homemade pizza, participants enjoyed lively conversations, networking, and getting to know one another in a relaxed atmosphere.
The kick-off meeting of the research platform Vertrauenswürdige Digitalisierung sicherheitskritischer Energiesysteme took place. During the event, common goals were formulated, individual research activities were presented, and the basis for close collaboration was established.
The kick-off meeting for the new research programme ‘Transformation des Energiesystems Niedersachsen TEN.efzn’ took place in Hanover. As part of the research platform ‘Vertrauenswürdige Digitalisierung sicherheitskritischer Energiesysteme’, Karoline Misch and Farina Wille will focus on the analysis of trust in socio-technical (agent) systems and the design of human-machine interfaces (HMIs).
