If you would like to learn more about our beautiful hometown, we are offering a guided city tour, fees included in your conference pass. The stroll through the city centre offers a glimpse into the fascinating and eventful history of the 'City of Lions'. Braunschweig was founded around 1,000 years ago, and some 850 years ago, Henry the Lion developed it into his residence. You will stroll through medieval alleyways and discover, at historic sites, the traces of the Hanseatic merchants and the Guelphs who shaped Braunschweig over the centuries. The route takes you past Burgplatz with Braunschweig's landmark, the Lion, Dankwarderode Castle and St Blasii Cathedral to the historic Old Town Market.
