The Collaborative Research Centre TRR 277 “Additive Manufacturing in Construction” (AMC) investigates how 3D printing can advance construction. Our goal is to develop innovative and sustainable methods using materials like concrete, earth, and metal. We focus on advancing processes and expanding design possibilities while ensuring cost efficiency.
AMC combines civil and mechanical engineering, architecture, and materials science. It develops technologies to optimize material use and simplify building structure production. By integrating innovative research, AMC aims to redefine construction practices with greater efficiency and adaptability. The AMC is organised into three focus areas. Focus Area A deals with materials and processes, Focus Area B with computational modelling and process control and Focus Area C with design and construction.
Funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), AMC operates at the Technical University of Braunschweig and the Technical University of Munich, with approximately 100 researchers.
