PD Dr. Tobias Ide ist Senior Lecturer am Institut für Internationale Beziehungen. Seine Schwerpunkte in Forschung und Lehre liegen in den Bereichen Friedens- und Konfliktforschung, Klimawandel, Umweltpolitik, Migration, Sicherheitspolitik, politische Ökonomie und sozialwissenschaftliche Methoden.

Tobias Ide ist außerdem Lecturer in Politics and Policy an der Murdoch Universität in Perth. In seinem aktuellen Projekt kombiniert er QCA und Fallstudien, um den Einfluss von Katastrophen auf die Dynamiken bewaffneter Konflikte zu analysieren. Er ist ebenfalls ein Direktor der Environmental Peacebuilding Association.

Tobias Ide promovierte 2015 an der Universität Hamburg zum Zusammenhang von Klimawandel, und gewaltsamen Konflikten. Seine 2019 an der TU Braunschweig angenommene Habilitationsschrift analysiert die Rolle von Umweltaspekten in Peacemaking- und Peacebuilding-Prozessen. Er war Gastwissenschaftler an der Universität Melbourne, der Hebräischen Universität Jerusalem und der American University in Washington DC.
