Atharva Potnis has been working as a research assistant in the Division Data-Driven Modeling of Mechanical Systems at the Institute of Applied Mechanics since May 2026. He holds a Master’s degree with honours in Computational Sciences in Engineering from TU Braunschweig and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University, India.
His research focuses on inelastic material modeling and uncertainty quantification in computational solid mechanics. He is particularly interested in model calibration and model discovery from experimental and simulation data, using uncertainty quantification methods to assess the reliability of identified material models.
