BSc or MSc thesis
Gaußbergpark is an urban green space in the northern inner city core of Braunschweig. Build on top of the ruins of the historical city walls in an area that had been repurposed as a landfill, Gaußbergpark is a small hill next to Oker river with a mixed stand of trees. This thesis aims to explore the current and future ecohydrological dynamics of Gaußbergpark—specifically soil moisture and transpiration, as well as tree water stress—through a plant hydraulics model. The model will be set up for all tree species in Gaußbergpark and will be driven with current and projected climate data.
Desirable skills and interests: GIS, interest and/or experience in plant hydraulic modelling.
Supervision: This thesis will be supervised by Ilhan Özgen (TUBS).
