"International dialogue between industry and conformity assessment bodies"

"Let's go to … China, India and IEC/TC 31 standardization policy"

Date: 09th and 10th of June, 2015

A dialogue between manufacturers and conformity assessment bodies is an essential condition for reducing barriers to international trade. The conformity assessment bodies feel strongly committed to assist industry in learning about national and regional legislation, in order to achieve a better understanding of requirements. Main concern is to minimize the "time to market" for placing explosion protected products on the various national markets.

The annual workshop "International Dialogue between industry and conformity assessment bodies" shall help to improve the understanding of national and regional requirements for achieving national certificates. The face to face contact to the representatives of industry and conformity assessment bodies will facilitate communication and processing of the national certification procedure.

Furthermore the dialogue will be beneficial for the harmonization efforts of IEC and IECEx being active in the field of standardization and conformity assessment, in order to come closer to the goal "One standard - one certificate - legally accepted everywhere".

The feedback from the participants of the 2014 workshop "Let's go to … Japan, Customs Union of BKR and 20 years of ATEX Regulation" made to invite experts from China, India and IEC/TC 31 for the 2015 workshop. The concept for the seminar is to offer a forum for the different perspectives of manufacturers, end users and conformity assessment bodies in a global context. The participants have the chance to learn the different views and to bring in their own experiences. Finally the seminar can help to improve the communication by focusing on main issues and to trigger modifications of existing approaches and strategies, in countries, industries and conformity assessment bodies.
