Within our group, we want to strengthen our research on the following topics:


Topic 1 - Superconducting cables are seen as a promising solution for lightweight electrical power
systems in future aircraft. Your activities include research on superconducting cable constructions,
cryogenic cooling technologies and wire bushings. This work also includes the design of
appropriate experimental setups in close collaboration with colleagues experienced in climatic and
cryogenic testing.


Topic 2 - A visionary electrical drive system for aircraft consists of superconducting cables,
superconducting electrical machines, cryogenically cooled power electronics and runs on cryogenic
liquid hydrogen. An upcoming research project led by TU Braunschweig will investigate the
feasibility of this concept. Your task within JRG Wiring Technologies will be to set up a system
simulation model to analyze mutual dependencies between the different subsystems and to find
global system optima.

Further information:
• The positions are supposed to be filled on April 1st, 2024 and May 1st, 2024, subject to
approval of the funds, and are initially limited to two years.
• The positions are intended to serve the qualification of scientists and offer the possibility of
a doctorate in electrical engineering.
• The salary is up to payment group 13 TV-L, depending on the assignment of tasks and
fulfillment of personal requirements.
• The positions are suitable for part-time work, but should preferably be filled 100 %.
• A Master’s degree in physics, electrical engineering or comparable scientific or technical
courses of study is mandatory for employment.
• Beyond scientific research work, planning and carrying out of experiments, preparing
publications and basic administrative work, your tasks will also include the supervision of
students.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical engineering and the field of power engineering, power
electronics or electric drive systems is desired.
• We expect interest and experience in laboratory experiments and in handling electrical
measurement equipment.
• You need to be able to work independently, responsibly and reliably.
• Your skills need to include communication, the ability and willingness to work in an
international research team as well as written and spoken English language.
• An international background or experience abroad with corresponding contacts to
worldwide research groups is extremely welcome.
