INGRoup conference in Rotterdam - an inspiring space for exchange

From July 17–20, we had the great opportunity to present our research from the Transformations-Hub MIAMy and the accompanying research of the Joint Research Groups of OHLF - Open Hybrid LabFactory at the Interdisciplinary Network for Group Research (INGRoup) conference in Rotterdam – an interdisciplinary platform dedicated to teams and groups in all their facets.

The conference was an inspiring space for exchange with international experts, valuable impulses, and fresh perspectives for research and practice.
We contributed current insights and discussed them with colleagues from around the world:

  • Darien Tartler, Dr. Marie Ritter & Prof. Dr. Simone Kauffeld (2025). Double Duty: Task Switching Dynamics in Virtual Meetings
  • Maischa Weber & Prof. Dr. Simone Kauffeld (2025). Who is talking to whom? A Social Network Perspective on Hybrid Meetings
  • Dr. Marie Ritter, Darien Tartler, Nico Wegener & Prof. Dr. Simone Kauffeld (2025). From Interaction to Influence: Leadership Emergence in Virtual Teams
  • Dr. Marie Ritter, Darien Tartler, Lisa Kuntze & Prof. Dr. Simone Kauffeld (2025). Reclaiming Focus? Examining the Need for a Meeting-Free Day (Poster)

Prof. Dr. Simone Kauffeld also had the opportunity to present our solution-oriented approaches to climate change in organizations and discuss them with Lyn Van Swol, Aimee Kane, Luke Adam Dye, Poppy McLeod, and Lukas Thürmer in a lively panel session.

Our highlights from 2.5 days of conference:

  • Innovative ways of working with behavioral data are gaining momentum and offer valuable insights into team dynamics.
  • Research on virtual meeting and team configurations continues to reveal potential for improving digital collaboration.
  • Temporal dynamics are increasingly in focus – teams are not short-lived, but exposed to continuous change over time.

It’s striking how much research is still conducted with student groups – although we know: context matters. We are grateful to collaborate with practice partners who help us generate relevant insights and bring them back into practice. This kind of exchange keeps us going!
