The Institute of Mechanics and Adaptronics is a hub for interdisciplinary research and innovation, focusing on topics such as functionally integrated lightweight structures, sensor integration for Structural Health Monitoring, robotics, biological and bio-based materials, supported by AI-assisted data analysis. In this section, we present our completed and ongoing projects, ranging from basic research to applied engineering. Our work includes the design of multifunctional composite materials, adaptive machine elements, technologies for aircraft wings, numerical and experimental biomechanics and structural mechanics aspects of the circular economy.
