TU Teaching Award 2026

Nominating lecturers for the Teaching Award is a valuable way of expressing appreciation for outstanding teaching. This not only recognizes the individual achievements and commitment of teachers, but also underlines the general importance of excellent teaching at TU Braunschweig.
The Teaching Award serves as an incentive for lecturers to continuously develop their skills and promote innovative teaching methods. Ultimately, both teachers and students benefit from this recognition, as it helps to create an inspiring learning environment and promote the quality of teaching at TU Braunschweig.

All courses taken in winter semester 2025/26 and summer semester 2026 can be nominated. You can only nominate courses to which you are registered in StudIP. The number of nominations is not limited.

The nomination can easily be made from May until the end of June 2026 via StudIP.

Students will be able to nominate the courses they attended in the winter semester 2025/26 and this summer semester 2026 in the various categories via the teaching award icon. You must provide your nominations with a clear explanation in order to submit them. Please fill in each of the three text fields with a comprehensible reason for your nomination (Each entry must be between 100 and 2,000 characters long).

You’re free to nominate as many courses as you like, including nominating the same course in multiple categories. You can withdraw your nominations at any time during the nomination process.

Nominations can be submitted from May 2026 via StudIP. The nomination phase is open until the end of June 2026.

Nominations will be made in the following categories:

• Best Lecture
• Best Undergraduate Course
  Undergraduate courses refer to compulsory courses in the Bachelor's program with over 50 participants
• Best Seminar
• Best Tutorial (German: Übung)/Best Laboratory
  Tutorials and laboratory courses, but also internships and language courses. Professional internships are excluded, as the focus is on courses.
• Best Student Tutorial (German: Tutorium)
  Courses organised by students, e.g. tutorials or excursions.

The student representatives of the facultys make an initial pre-selection of the nominations. Ten nominations per faculty can be submitted to the jury.

The final decision on the award winners is made by a student jury. This is made up of the six student members of the KAS and six faculty representatives (Faculty Council). For the selection, the jury receives the nomination texts from the students, the reasons for selection from the student representatives, as well as the evaluation results or alternatively a teaching concept.

In both phases of the award process, students receive a handout with guidelines to support the decision-making process. The following criteria should help with the quality assessment: Clarity and structure, teaching methods, student involvement and support, subject expertise and currency, evaluation and feedback, social and ethical responsibility.

The award ceremony will take place at the beginning of the 2026/27 winter semester, on 03 November 2026, at the "Aula" of "Haus der Wissenschaft".

The final award recipients will be announced live during the event. You can also look forward to an inspiring guest lecture and a festive champagne reception to round off the evening.
