We have a new doctor!

Congratulations to Tobias Langmann, who has successfully defended his PhD thesis on "Numerical modeling and isotope hydrological characterisation of an urban porous aquifer."

Tobias’s research focuses on the highly relevant topic of understanding complex local groundwater conditions in Braunschweig, combining field investigations, data integration, and numerical simulations. Through systematic monitoring and the use of environmental tracers, he analyzed and modeled the groundwater system beneath Lower Saxony’s second-largest city.

His work makes a valuable contribution to a comprehensive understanding of urban groundwater systems, offering important insights into current and future groundwater availability and strengthening the basis for urban water management and municipal water supply.

A big thank you goes to the PhD committee for their engaged discussions and guidance: Julia Gebert (Chair), Matthias Schöniger (Supervisor), Paul Königer Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (Co-supervisor), and Antje Schwalb (Examiner).
