At this year's 6th International EUROMBR Training Course 2025 (October 13-17, 2025) on Bioprocess development & medical applications in microfluidics at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Copenhagen, the ibvt team once again supported this exciting course with a lecture, hands-on laboratory work, and poster presentations. The students Leon Pastwa and Duncan Hannig presented their final theses to the EUROMBR consortium, Yvonne Göcke and Leonie Schumann supervised the EUROMBR participants with laboratory experiments on the optical density measurement in the capillary wave microreactor and oxygen transfer measurements in a 3D-printed microbubble column reactor, and Rainer Krull gave a lecture on “Micro bioreactors (MBRs): Overview and applications”.
Duncan Hannig was awarded the 2nd poster prize for his poster with the title "Low gradient magnetic separation of functionalized magnetic particles for protein purification from cell lysate" under the supervision of Jan-Angelus Meyer, PhD student in the project "Development of an innovative biotechnological process for the production and integrated separation of nanobodies using SPIONs (BioNanoSPION)" funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The ibvt congratulates on this outstanding award.
The EUROMBR training course was excellently organized by our Danish hosts Ulrich Krühne and his team from the Process and Systems Engineering Center (PROSYS) at DTU. Technical expertise and intensive discussions in the laboratories and at the posters with the participants and lecturers alternated, and there was also plenty of opportunity for networking and celebrating together at the dinner party at Wallman Circus.
The EUROMBR Training Course is of particular importance for the promotion of young researchers. The course combines theoretical knowledge with valuable practical experiences. Young scientists use the opportunity to get in touch with the leading experts in MBR development and to build and broaden their own scientific networks. The 7th International EUROMBR Training Course will be held in October 2026 at the University College London, United Kingdom.
