This year’s field trip will take us to London, Manchester, and Sheffield. We will visit schools of architecture, a wide range of spatial practices and practitioners, community-led housing initiatives, climate activist networks and other alliances that address, work within and foreground the production of space as a product of social, political, ecological, and economic relations.
Travelling by train (or boat) via Brussels (probably) to London and onwards, there will be tours of seminal public housing schemes as well as (post) industrial landscapes and their redevelopment, colonial and other trading histories, neoliberal restructurings in the form of privatisation of public assets, and, most crucially, resistance to the widespread dissolution of the commons.
Travel period: 22/05 – 31/05/2026
Travel costs: approx. 600€/person (excluding meals). External funding (DAAD PROMOS + institutional) might reduce this personal contribution further.
The field trip is embedded in a teaching module (SQ/PRO) and is open to 12 students. If you are interested, apply—with a letter of motivation—by 27th February, addressed to gtas(at)tu-braunschweig.de.
