In this project, we are developing a multi-layer aircraft design framework, for conceptual design and multidisciplinary optimization of the next generation of passenger aircraft equipped with novel airframe and energy network technologies. The aircraft technologies include active flow control, active load alleviation, boundary layer ingestion, and new materials and structures. The novel energy network technologies include full electric as well as hybrid electric energy network. The project ADEMAO includes a clean sheet design of three reference aircraft, a short-range, a mid-range, and a long-range, as well as higher fidelity analysis and multidisciplinary optimization of them. The ADEMAO project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) via the cluster of excellence SE2A.
