Contents

This lecture deals with the fundamentals of modern communications metrology. Based on this, knowledge in terms of measurement of signals and transmission characteristics in the time and frequency domain, in terms of antenna metrology, protocol metrology and channel measurement will be built. This knowledge is essential for understanding and application of state-of-the-art measuring devices, e.g. in the field of mobile radio communications. After having completed the module, students will be able to apply current measurement systems in research and development on their own initiative.

  • Introduction to metrology,
  • Fundamentals of high frequency technology,
  • Measurements in the time domain,
  • Spectrum analysis,
  • Vector network analysis,
  • Antenna metrology,
  • Channel measurements,
  • Protocol metrology.

Course ET-NT-53 with 5 Credit Points.

Lecturer: PD Dr.-Ing. Thomas Kleine-Ostmann
Assistant: Tobias Doeker
