Introduction to Quantum Information Technology and Quantum Computing

Contents

This course provides a fundamental introduction to the fascinating world of quantum information technology and quantum computing. The objective is to equip students with a solid theoretical and practical understanding of the essential concepts and methods of this interdisciplinary field.

Course Content:

The lecture covers a wide range of topics relevant to understanding and applying quantum computers and quantum information processes, including:

  • Fundamentals of Quantum Information

    • Introduction to the concepts of qubits and their physical realizations
    • Representation and visualization of qubits: Bloch sphere and Q-sphere
  • Quantum Circuits and Quantum Logic

    • Basic quantum gates: Hadamard gate, CNOT gate, and other fundamental operators
    • Combinations of quantum gates and their applications in algorithms
  • Quantum Communication and Cryptography

    • Fundamentals of quantum information theory
    • Quantum cryptographic protocols, including quantum key distribution (QKD)
  • Quantum Algorithms and Their Applications

    • Superdense coding
    • Quantum teleportation
    • Shor’s algorithm

Target Audience and Learning Objectives:

This course is designed for students in physics, computer science, mathematics, and related fields who are interested in quantum computing and quantum information. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamental principles of quantum information and quantum computation,
  • Understand and design basic quantum algorithms,
  • Comprehend the most important quantum communication protocols,
  • Evaluate the challenges and potential of quantum error correction.

Course with 5 credit points.
