How to apply for “Sustainable Engineering of Products and Processes”
  1. Check whether you meet all application requirements.

Academic requirements

You can apply to enroll in a bachelor programme of the TU Braunschweig if your qualifications are sufficient for study at a university in your home country. This means:

  • You must have completed secondary school.

  • If there is a university entrance examination in your home country, you must have passed it successfully.

In some cases we may also require that you have studied at an accredited university in your home country or that you complete the Studienkolleg foundation course in Germany.

A pre-study internship of 8 weeks is required. (If you do not have the opportunity to complete a pre-internship, you can apply for a deferment of the internship and make up for it by the end of the fourth semester.) Please find more information here:

Language requirements

“Sustainable Engineering in Products and processes” is a bilingual programme. Therefore you will need to meet language requirements in both: English and German.

a) English

Applicants who do not hold an English higher education entrance certificate or who have not completed at least two years of their school education in English (language of instruction) need to have completed eight years of English as a school subject during their last eight years in school or need to have passed an internationally recognized English test such as:

  • TOEFL IBT (85 points or higher) 

  • UNIcert (level II with grade 2,5 or higher)

  • IELTS (6,5 or higher) 

  • Cambridge B2 First (175 points or higher)

  • PTE Academic (60 points or higher)

  • DAAD language certificate (3xB2 and 1xC1 or higher)

  • English Language Proficiency Report of the TU Braunschweig Language Center (3xB2 and 1x C1 or higher)

or a similar language certificate.

b) German

Applicants who do not hold a German higher education entrance certificate (Abitur or equivalent) or who have not completed at least two years of their school education in German (language of instruction) need to have completed at least eight years of German as a school subject during their last eight years in school or need to have passed an internationally recognized German test such as:

  • DSH 1 (57 % or higher)

  • Test-DaF 4x3 (3 points or higher in each section of the test)

or a similar language certificate. Students can be admitted if they prove at least a basic level of German A2 at the time of their enrollment. In that case, they will take German language classes as part of their studies and need to fulfil the requirement (e.g. DSH-1 or TestDaF 4x3) by the end of the third semester.

Documents

A complete application for SEPP generally includes the following documents:

  • Online application form (Antrag auf Zulassung)

  • Secondary school certificate and academic transcripts of subjects and grades from that school (in the original language)

  • Official translation of your secondary school certificate an academic transcripts of subjects and grades from that school (in English or German), if applicable

  • Your curriculum vitae

  • Proof of sufficient English language proficiency (PDF form)

  • receipt for payment of your assessment fee (e.g. online payment receipt), if applicable (international degrees only)

Additional documents might be required, for instance if you have already studied at a university or need to prove your successful completion of the "Studienkolleg". At the end of the online application you will find a checklist for your application documents. Please always refer to this list.

Application fee

The TU Braunschweig charges a fee of € 75,- for the assessment of foreign qualifications which you have to pay when applying. Detailed information on payment procedures is provided at the end of the online application process.

 

You are exempt from the assessment fee, if:

  • the Language Centre at the TU Braunschweig or the VHS Braunschweig has issued you an application confirmation for your visa application

  • you receive a German Bachelor Degree within a Dual Bachelor Degree-Program

  • you have already paid the assessment fee for a previous application to the TU Braunschweig. Please provide your prior application number

  • you received a scholarship from a national German scholarship provider (e.g. DAAD)

  • you are already enrolled at the TU Braunschweig as a degree seeking student and are applying for a different course of study

  • your documents have already been assessed by the German Ministry of Education (in Germany)
