Data Protection

Dear Sir or Madam,

as the Data Protection Officer (DSB) of the TU Braunschweig I will advise you on all data protection issues and support you in complying with and ensuring data protection in your area of work. I will also help you with personal problems/conflicts in the area of data protection. Upon request, your communications will be treated confidentially.

The „General Data Protection Regulation” (GDPR), which has been in force since 25 May 2018, and the new Lower Saxony Data Protection Act (NDSG), which is to be regarded as a supplementary law in this respect, constitute the legal basis for any form of processing of personal data at TU Braunschweig. This applies to automated and non-automated procedures, both IT-supported and in paper form.

Under certain circumstances (participation at economic competition and processing of personal data) also the according regulations of the new “German data protection act” (BDSG) must be applied.

If you think that a processing of personal data is violating the GDPR or other data protection regulations, you can officially complain at a supervisory authority (State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony (LfD) or Federal Commissioner for Data Protection (BfDI)). The supervisory authority will inform the complainant about the outcome of the complaint, including the possibility of an effective judicial remedy (art. 77, 78 GDPR).

Further information on various data protection topics (in german) can be found by using the navigation.

Yours sincerely

Bernd Nörtemann
