Student theses

Master's Thesis in Singapore: Urban Industrial Symbiosis

Motivation:

Within the research collaboration master theis can be co-supervised in our joint research fields:

  • Development of tools and methods supporting the development of industrial symbiosis and urban factories
  • Evaluation of Waste-to-Resources concepts e.g. avoidance, valorization and re-use of waste streams, cannibalization, recycling of post-consumer waste streams and new business models that promote industrial symbiosis systems.
  • Development and initial setup of demonstrator for the Manufacturing Control Tower in the field of energy efficiency and life cycle engineering
  • Modelling and Simulation for sustainable manufacturing
  • System of systems modelling to understand the interactions resulting from dynamic resource planning in a company network

Funding:

Master's Thesis in Singapore: Smart Remanufacturing Systems
We are seeking a highly motivated graduate student to join our research team and conduct a master's thesis project in the area of Smart Remanufacturing Systems - Agile EV Battery System Disassembly using smart sensing that could handle variable product design and condition. This project will be conducted in collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) in Singapore.

The project will focus on developing innovative approaches to smart sensing and disassembly of EV battery systems, with the aim of improving efficiency, reducing waste, and preserving resources. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of experts and SIMTech researchers to design, implement, and evaluate smart remanufacturing systems that can handle variable product design and condition.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields. Experience in smart sensing, robotics, or automation would be an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
