A decisive milestone has been reached for the test operation: all the necessary authorisations for vehicle approval have now been granted as part of the ALBUS research project. The automated public service bus from ADASTEC, which will soon be in operation in Burgdorf as part of a test run lasting several months, was officially presented to the Hannover Region today.
Before the test operation begins, a survey will be conducted to analyse the current attitude and acceptance of the population towards autonomous driving in general and in connection with local public transport. The survey is part of the scientific monitoring of the research project, for which the IVS is also responsible. In addition to user acceptance, the research work also focuses in particular on the traffic effects of automated buses in public transport.
