Summary of the overall project:

This project uses coupled CFD-DEM simulations to analyze structure formation and thermal stress of xRNA formulations during drying and their impact on product morphology and RNA-LNP integrity. Building on these simulations, data-driven AI methods (ANNs and physics-inspired genetic programming) are developed to predict suitable process and formulation parameters and are experimentally validated in collaboration with B1/B2.

Goals and tasks of iPAT

• Establishment of a coupled CFD-DEM simulation setup for different drying methods.
• Implementation of thermal load of product during drying process in simulation.
• Elucidation of mechanisms influencing the properties and stability of dried RNA products.

• Data-driven AI for prediction of process and formulation parameters for desired structures.
