Scientist

Jorge-Humberto Urrea-Quintero is a postdoctoral researcher in the Division Data-Driven Modeling of Mechanical Systems at TU Braunschweig. He completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia, in 2020, with a thesis on "Controllability analysis of multiscale systems". During his PhD, he spent 18 months at the Institute of Continuum Mechanics at Leibniz Universität Hannover, then headed by Prof. Peter Wriggers. After completing his PhD, he joined the Institute of Mechanics and Computational Mechanics at Leibniz Universität Hannover as a postdoctoral researcher under the direction of Prof. Udo Nackenhorst. In 2023, he moved to TU Braunschweig to join the group of Prof. Henning Wessels.

His research centers on reduced-order and surrogate modeling for problems in solid mechanics and time-dependent multiphysics systems. His current work focuses on uncertainty-aware model discovery for mechanical systems, particularly the learning of constitutive laws for complex anisotropic materials.
