Andrea Morini has been working as a Research Assistant in Data-Driven Modeling since October 2025 under the guidance of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Henning Wessels.
He began his academic journey in Parma, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 2019, graduating with a final grade of 95/110. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Mathematical Engineering at the University of Padova, which he completed in July 2025 with a final grade of 101/110.
During his master’s studies, he participated in an Erasmus+ traineeship at the Technical University of Munich with Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil Roland Wüchner. This experience played a key role in his final dissertation, under the supervision of Prof. Ass. Antonia Larese De Tetto and Dr.-Ing. Veronika Singer, where he developed the core theoretical and numerical components of his thesis titled “Derivation of a surrogate membrane element for a ring net structure.”
His research focused on the homogenization of ring net structures through a surrogate membrane model, along with the calibration of hyperelastic material properties.
This work laid the foundation for his current research, which centers on model discovery and material calibration enhanced by a statistical framework.
