Onboarding means "taking new employees on board" and describes a comprehensive process of introduction and induction that begins as soon as the contract is signed and continues far beyond the first few weeks. Carefully designed onboarding is crucial for the success and satisfaction of new employees and forms the foundation for good long-term collaboration. Through a structured onboarding process, we support new employees at TU Braunschweig so that they quickly feel at home and can develop their potential in the best possible way. The focus is not only on professional induction, but also on integration into the team and into TU Braunschweig as an organization.
To support managers and organizational units in this task, you will find some helpful information and materials below.

Who is involved in the onboarding process and who has which tasks in onboarding?
Onboarding is a Management Task
The person responsible for the onboarding process is the new employee's manager. They ensure a structured process, but do not have to manage the process alone. On the contrary: well-planned and implemented onboarding is a team task! Clear agreements and the transparent distribution of the various tasks within the team are the key to a successful process.
This diagram outlines the key stakeholders involved in onboarding. A detailed version specifying roles and tasks is currently available only in German.

In addition to situational feedback and regular dialogue, it makes sense to integrate scheduled meetings into the onboarding process. The illustration gives you an overview of the various occasions for meetings as part of onboarding and offboarding. You can find conversation guidelines in our "conversation management toolbox".
