SDGs in higher education

The topic of sustainability and the concept of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) are becoming increasingly important in universities’ goal-setting and performance frameworks. However, these topics are rarely integrated into study programs in a comprehensive way and have not yet been well researched. For this reason, TU Braunschweig is striving to evaluate its study programs in order to identify potential opportunities and to raise greater awareness among both students and teaching staff regarding the aspects of sustainable development.

Teach4TUmorrow

The Teach4TUmorrow project lays the foundation for this initiative by supporting educators in creating courses that embody the principles of education for sustainable development. The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as a fundamental foundation for the project. For more details on each of the SDGs, please click here.

Project focus:

  • Content analysis of module and course descriptions
  • Development of recommendations for teaching staff
  • Creation of additional offerings to build teaching-staff competencies
  • Incentives for integrating the SDGs into curricula
  • Semester-based monitoring
  • Support in shaping strategic sustainability measures sustainability strategy

The project is funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) within the framework of the zukunft.niedersachsen program.
