Bio

Katja Knecht holds a Ph.D. in Media & Arts Technology from Queen Mary University of London, an M.Sc. in MediaArchitecture from Bauhaus-University Weimar and a Dipl.Ing. (FH) degree in Audio-Visual Media from Hochschule der Medien, Stuttgart. She has been conducting research at the intersection of media, technology, architecture and urban planning for over 10 years in Germany, the UK, and Singapore. Her research focusses on mediated spatial experiences and the human-centred design and development of digital systems to support participatory practices as well as design and decision-making processes in architecture and urban planning.

Katja joined ISU in November 2021 as a wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in the Industrial Symbiosis and Urban Factories (ISUrF) Hub project. Her research as part of the project focusses on the roles and integration of stakeholders in industrial and urban symbiosis processes. Further research interests include citizen participation in urban planning, virtual reality for urban design engagement and development, as well as human-centred design research in general.
