José Manuel studied architecture at University of Chile (2014), with undergraduate exchange studies at Politecnico di Milano (2011). He pursued the Dual Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Mobility (2026) between the Technische Universität Berlin and the University of Buenos Aires, supported by the DAAD Scholarship. He also completed diplomas in “Integrated Urban Management” (2016) and “Real Estate Development and Urban Economics” (2021) at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Most of his professional experience was developed at Chile’s Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (2013-2020), where he guided large-scale urban projects, housing programs, neighborhood urbanization, and territorial recovery in informal settlement contexts. He contributed to public space, street, and park design, coordinated participatory planning processes, and developed socio-territorial intervention methodologies. He conducted urban studies based on territorial data analysis, supporting evidence-based decision-making for public investment and urban integration in vulnerable areas. He also worked in the private architecture & real estate sector and collaborated with NGOs and Municipal Social Development Corporations. Currently he is a WiMi and PhD Student in AgiMo Project, conducting interdisciplinary research on long-term exploratory scenario planning (XSP) for the design of future scenarios for cities and sustainable mobility.
