The Scrum process model is widely used in practice and therefore particularly important for your future professional life. We would therefore like to explore Scrum in more depth in a practical unit that serves as a supplement to existing software engineering courses.
In just four hours, we will simulate how software development could proceed over a period of four months. To achieve a 672-fold acceleration, we will not be developing software, but will instead build a Lego city together.
Would you like to (a) have fun, (b) train your teamwork skills, (c) learn about Scrum, (d) not miss out on a highlight of your studies, (e) see how a Lego city is built in an hour, or (f) simply see 100,000 Lego pieces in action? Then come along!
The next Lego Scrum is planned for the summer semester of 2026. All students of computer science and computer science-related courses are eligible to participate. Participation is only possible after prior registration.
If you have any questions, please contact Thomas Thüm and Ruben Dunkel.
On the 11th December 2025, over 130 students have created a Lego city in only one hour. By splitting the city in 4 boroughs that were worked on by 4 teams with up to 9 members each, the students had to take care of a multitude of customer requests that lead to renovations and even new construction. They had to integrate their buildings not only inside their boroughs but with the rest of the city as well, encouraging them to master inter and intra team communications. The following results speak for themselves:
