Overview of the 1-subject and 2-subject Bachelor's degree programmes in Mathematics
Standard Period of Study: 6 Semester
Start of Studies: each winter semester (admission-free)
Graduation: Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.)
Structure of the study programme
The maths degree programme consists of three pillars:
1. Specialisation in mathematics
The mathematics specialisation can be roughly divided into
- the basic mathematics area
- the mathematical advanced area
- the mathematical differentiation or elective area and
- the Bachelor's thesis

2. Minor Subject
a) The minor subject in the 1-subject Bachelor's degree programme in Mathematics
The following minor subjects are currently included in the 1-subject Bachelor's degree programme in Mathematics: Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Other subjects can be admitted upon application to the Examination Board if they correspond to the general qualification objectives of the Bachelor's degree programme in Mathematics and the ability to study can be guaranteed. Admission-restricted and NC subjects, such as Psychology, cannot be chosen as a minor subject.

b) The minor subject in the 2-subject Bachelor's degree programme in Mathematics
Students on the 2-subject Bachelor's degree programme with the aim of becoming a secondary school teacher should note that the following subjects can currently be combined with Mathematics: Physics, English Studies, German Studies, Chemistry and its Mediation, History and Philosophy (cannot be continued in the ‘Master of Education’ at TU Braunschweig).

3. Professionalisation Area
The professionalisation area is characterised by interdisciplinary and action-oriented content. Depending on the study objective and previous knowledge, interdisciplinary and professional qualification courses can be attended, e.g. rhetoric or techniques of scientific work.
