Privacy Policy

Newsletter of the TU Braunschweig MVP Program

The following privacy policy applies only to the newsletter of the TU Braunschweig MVP program. For the technical operation of this website, the general privacy policy on this website. The general newsletter section described there does not apply to the MVP newsletter.

2. Contact of the Data Protection Officer

If you have any questions regarding data protection at TU Braunschweig, please contact our Data Protection Officer by email (datenschutz@tu-braunschweig.de).

3. Purpose of Processing

We process your email address to send you the MVP Program’s regular newsletter.

The newsletter provides updates on the MVP Program.

Your data will be used exclusively for sending and managing this newsletter.

4. Processed Data

To register, you only need to provide your email address. If you are asked to provide a name or other information, this information is voluntary and will be marked as such.

The following information is also recorded as part of the registration and confirmation process:

  • date and method of registration,
  • date and method of confirmation,
  • IP address
  • consent form used at the time of registration, and
  • the privacy policy provided at that time.

The log data generated technically when the registration form is accessed is processed in accordance with the general provisions of the TU website’s privacy policy, independent of the newsletter registration.

5. Legal Basis

The legal basis for the processing is your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.

Consent is voluntary. You will not suffer any disadvantages if you do not give your consent or if you later revoke it.

6. Confirmation of Registration

Registration is done via a double opt-in process. After submitting the registration form, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. Your email address will be added to the newsletter distribution list only after you have actively confirmed your registration.

If you do not confirm your registration, you will not receive the newsletter. Unconfirmed registration data will be deleted after 14 days.

This procedure is designed in particular to prevent fraudulent registrations using other people’s email addresses and to provide proof of the consent given.

7. Recipients and Mailing Procedures

Access to the data is restricted exclusively to employees of the Institute for Marketing and Innovation who are responsible for managing and distributing the newsletter, as well as the necessary technical administrators at TU Braunschweig.

The mailing list is maintained manually. The newsletter is sent via the Technical University of Braunschweig’s email infrastructure. Subscribers’ email addresses are not disclosed to other recipients during the mailing process.

8. Transfers to Third Countries

Your personal data will not be transferred to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

9. Monitoring Audience and Profiling

No personalized tracking of opening or clicking behavior takes place. The newsletter does not contain any tracking pixels. No usage profiles are created, and recipients are not categorized based on their usage behavior.

10. Retention Period

Your email address will be stored in the active newsletter distribution list until you revoke your consent or the newsletter is permanently discontinued. Upon revocation, your address will be immediately removed from the active distribution list and will no longer be used to send the newsletter.

Unconfirmed subscriptions will be deleted after 14 days.

The information required to document consent and its revocation may be stored separately from the active mailing list for up to three years after the end of the calendar year in which the subscription was terminated, in particular due to revocation or discontinuation of the newsletter. The legal basis for this is Article 6(1)(c) in conjunction with Article 5(2) and Article 7(1) of the GDPR. The information will not be used to send newsletters during this period and will be deleted thereafter.

11. Withdrawal of Consent and Unsubscription

You may revoke your consent at any time, effective for the future. To do so, you can

  • reply to the newsletter or
  • send an email to mi-mvp@tu-braunschweig.de.

In addition, each newsletter includes an unsubscribe link that allows you to unsubscribe immediately.

No reason is required to withdraw consent. A specific email subject line is not required. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing that took place up to that point.

12. Obligation to Provide

You are under no legal or contractual obligation to provide your email address. However, without providing and confirming an email address, we cannot send you the newsletter.

13. Automated Decisions

Automated decision-making, including profiling as defined in Article 22 of the GDPR, does not take place.

14. Rights of Data Subjects

In accordance with the statutory requirements, you have, in particular, the right to access your data, to object under Article 21 of the GDPR (where applicable), to have your data corrected or erased, to restrict processing, and to data portability.

To exercise your rights, you may contact the aforementioned organizational unit responsible for processing.
